If you’ve forgotten your password or username or can’t receive the verification code, you can recover your Google Account by following these steps. Once recovered, you can use Google services such as Gmail, Photos, and Google Play.
You must register a recovery email address where you can receive the authentication code even in these unexpected situations. Register a third-party email address other than your Google email address as a secondary email address for your Google account.

1. Find your password
① Follow the steps to recover your Google account or Gmail.
You’ll be asked a few questions to verify that your account is yours. Answer questions in as much detail as possible.
If you’re having trouble, see our instructions for completing the account recovery steps (outlined below).
After entering your recovery email address or mobile phone number, you will receive a verification code.

② When prompted, reset your password. Please choose a secure password that has not been used on this account.
2. Help to complete account recovery steps
If you can’t log in, follow these steps to help you recover your Google account.
① Go to the account recovery page.
② Follow the account recovery steps and use the tips below as much as possible. Some of the example questions may not appear.
If you’ve already tried to recover your account and received the message “Google couldn’t confirm that this account is yours,” you can try again.

Answer as many questions as possible: Avoid skipping questions as much as possible. Even if you’re not sure of the answer, make your best guess rather than skipping to another question.
Use familiar devices and locations
If possible:
– Use of computers, smartphones, or tablets to log in frequently
– Use your favorite browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari)
– Use at locations where you frequently log in, such as at home or work.

Enter your password and security question answers accurately
Even small mistakes can have an impact, so pay particular attention to typos and capitalization.
Password: When asked for the last password you remember, enter the most recent password you can remember.
– If you do not remember your last password, enter a previous password that you remember, even if it is not the last password. The more recent your password is, the more helpful it is.
– If you do not remember your previous password clearly: Enter the password you think is most correct.
Answer to your security question: If you’re prompted to enter the answer to your security question:
– If you don’t remember the answer: Take your best guess.
– If you know the answer but your account wasn’t recovered on the first try: Try using another expression that means the same thing.

Enter the email address associated with your account
If you’re prompted to enter an email address that you can currently use, enter one of the email addresses you added to your account. For example:
– Your recovery email address will help you log in again. This is the address where you will receive security notifications from Google.
– An alternate email address is the address you can use to log in.
– The contact email address is where I receive information about most of the Google services I use.
Add some helpful details
If you’re asked why you can’t access your account, please provide us with helpful details.
– Currently traveling
– Certain error messages are displayed
– You believe your account has been hacked by malware or other reasons.
– I changed my password last week, but I can’t remember it.
Providing a description that matches Google’s information will help resolve the issue.
Check if the email is in your spam folder
– Google will never request your password through email, phone call, or message. Enter your password only from your Google account.
– If you can’t find the email from the Google team, check your spam folder or trash for an email with the subject ‘Contact Google Support.’
3. Find the email address you use to log in
① Follow the steps to confirm your user name. At this time, you must know the following information.
The phone number or recovery email address registered to your account
Name registered on your account (last name, first name)
② Follow the instructions to confirm your account.
③ A list of user names matching your account will be displayed.
