This is the season when the full-fledged rainy season and hot weather begin. Starting June 7, we are accepting applications for Energy Cashback, which will deduct the amount from your electricity bill if you reduce your electricity usage by a certain percentage. We will share all information about Energy Cashback, including how to apply for Energy Cashback, the application period, and cashback amount, for which more than 200,000 households have already applied.
What is Energy Cashback?
This is a policy that will be implemented nationwide from June 2023 after a pilot project in 2022 as a system to return in cash the amount of electricity usage saved to apartment complexes or individual households that have reduced electricity usage.

Since it is easy to apply at a time when the unit price of electricity, including management fees, has risen, I hope that many people will apply and put energy saving, which is the purpose of Energy Cashback, into practice.
Anyone who is confirmed to be residing at the application address on their resident registration can apply.
You can apply, but there are cashback conditions.
1. If there is at least one year of electricity usage out of the two years before 2023.
2. When electricity usage is reduced compared to existing electricity usage (30 won cashback per 1 kWh of savings when achieving a minimum savings rate of 3% and the average savings rate of participants in the same region)
Only if both conditions are met will cashback based on energy savings be provided.
How to apply for Energy Cashback
Energy Cashback can be applied through the KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) Residential Energy Cashback website or by visiting a KEPCO branch nationwide.

If you have difficulty applying online, you can visit a KEPCO branch (regional headquarters/business office). The locations of KEPCO branches nationwide can be searched on the KEPCO website [Go].
Energy Cashback Application Period
Energy Cash Bag, which is currently counted as applied by more than 200,000 households, can be applied for by visiting the website or branch until August 31, 2023.
It’s not too late now. Households that apply within the period may receive energy cashback support retroactively from July.
Let’s take a closer look at the energy cashback amount, which can be up to 100 won per kWh.
Energy Cashback Amount
Considering the increase in electricity rates, we are providing benefits by adding differential cashback to the basic cashback from July to December 2023.
Let’s take a look at basic cashback and differential cashback amounts.
basic cashback
Reduce power usage by more than 3%
When achieving a savings rate higher than the average for participants in the same region
30 won paid per 1kWh
Differential Cashback
If savings are less than 5-10%, an additional 30 won per kWh is paid.
If savings are less than 10-20%, an additional 50 won per kWh is paid.
If savings are less than 20-30%, an additional 70 won per kWh is paid.
Adding differential cashback to the basic cashback yields an energy cashback amount of up to 100 won per 1 kWh.
Due to the increase in electricity rates, if 4 people use about 430 kWh of electricity, they will be charged about 80,000 won.
Let’s assume that you save energy and receive energy cashback and check the amount.
Cashback of 3,900 won when reducing power consumption by 10%
Cashback of KRW 9,770 when energy is reduced by 20%
Cashback of KRW 14,660 when electricity consumption is reduced by 30%
A payment notice will be issued with the cashback amount deducted from your electricity bill.
You may not be able to reduce the actual amount of electricity in your household, but if you invest just 3 minutes to apply, it can help reduce electricity bills.
In a situation where the burden of maintenance costs has increased due to rising electricity rates, a good policy called Energy Cashback has been developed. Now that you have learned about how to apply for Energy Cashback, the application period, and the cashback amount, why not apply right away instead of passing by?
