노인스포츠지도사 자격증By 2022, Korea’s elderly population is growing very rapidly, reaching 17.5% of the total population. As the proportion of the population aged 65 or older increases, various efforts to pursue health and happiness are also increasing. In line with these times, the senior sports instructor certification is a certification that is in the spotlight not only now but also in the future, and is essential for proper sports guidance for the elderly. Let’s learn about the methods and types of tests to obtain a senior sports instructor certification.
1. Eligibility to apply for senior sports instructor position.
2. Senior sports instructor category.
3. Senior sports instructor examination process.
4. Challenge yourself to become a senior sports instructor.
Senior sports instructors are responsible for developing, conducting, and managing programs for those participating in private sports facilities or hobbyist organizations to promote leisure and physical education for all people. There are more than 80,000 sports facilities in Korea, but there are still not enough professional sports instructors to manage and operate them professionally, so it appears that there will be many opportunities in the future.
There are no separate qualifications to apply for the senior sports instructor certification, but only those 18 years of age or older can apply. You do not need to major in a discipline related to the Department of Physical Education, nor do you need any experience. Certification exams are conducted only once a year, so it is necessary to prepare thoroughly in advance and it is recommended that you choose the subject in which you are most confident.
Unlike other certifications, senior sports instructors operate with only one certification without distinction between level 1 and level 2. Additionally, you can only teach for the sport you choose. For example, if you have obtained a soccer instructor certification, you can only coach soccer and cannot coach other sports such as basketball.
The senior sports instructor exam order is conducted in the following order: written exam – practical exam – oral exam – sports instructor training – final passing. You must pass each step to proceed to the next step.

The condition for being exempted from the written test is that you have one senior sports instructor license. If you apply for another sport, the written test is waived and only the practical, oral test, and training courses are conducted. Additionally, if you have a professional sports instructor or recreational sports instructor license, you are also exempt from the written test.
The written exam for senior sports instructors consists of one required subject and four elective subjects. As for elective subjects, you will take an exam by selecting 4 out of 7 subjects.
1. Required subject (1): Physical education for the elderly
2. Elective subjects (select 4 out of 7 subjects)
– Sports psychology, exercise physiology, sports sociology, exercise mechanics, sports pedagogy, sports ethics, and Korean physical education history.
The passing standard is 40 points or more in each subject, with an average of 60 points or more. After passing the written exam, practical and oral exams will be held. The senior sports instructor certification does not require much specialized knowledge or skills in the practical exam and is conducted in a format that demonstrates guidance methods according to the physical and mental changes of the elderly. The practical test will be held in front of an examiner, and you can pass with ease if you prepare and demonstrate games or movements on the relevant topic. A score of 70 or higher is passing.
If you have passed the practical and oral exams in the senior sports instructor qualification exam, you must conduct instructor training as the final step. Leader training scores are evaluated based on training attitude, physical education guidance, and field practice to determine whether or not you pass. Attendance of 90% or more is required, and a score of 60 or more is required to pass. There are seven training institutions, including Yonsei University, Ewha Womans University, Silla University, Daejeon University, Mokpo University, Honam University, and Catholic Kwandong University.
