Coupang is switching the delivery fee of its food delivery service Coupang Eats to free.
Coupang announced on the 18th that it will no longer collect Coupang Eats delivery fees for WoW members from the 26th. The delivery fee discount policy for WoW members will be changed to a free policy.
Coupang Eats’ free delivery service has no limits on the number of orders, order amount, or long-distance delivery. In addition, it can be used in conjunction with a separate coupon or discount, so you can also receive food price discounts.
Coupang explains that by eliminating the delivery fee, which was a hurdle in ordering food delivery, customers will be relieved of the pain of rising prices, and restaurant owners will have more opportunities to increase sales without the burden of additional costs.
According to the National Statistical Office, the prices of about 80% of daily living items increased last month compared to the same month last year, and with the increase in fuel prices, the food delivery fee borne by consumers ranged from the usual 3,000 won to a maximum of 7,000 won as of December last year.
WoW members can choose between free delivery and the premium service, one-home delivery. This benefit is available in major areas of Chungcheong, Gangwon, Gyeongsang, and Jeolla Province, as well as Jeju City on Jeju Island, in addition to the metropolitan area and metropolitan cities. Coupang plans to gradually expand the application area in the future.
A Coupang official said, “Last year, we provided a record $3 billion (KRW 3.9162 trillion) in savings benefits to Coupang Wow members,” adding, “Through this benefit, we can create an environment where not only customers but also local merchants can grow together.” “Opportunities will expand,” he said.
