While using Netflix, I thought about the lack of Korean content(?), so I additionally signed up for “TVing.” TVING is an OTT service that allows you to watch videos from JTBC and TVN channels and is rich in Korean movies and dramas. It also has the advantage of being able to watch CJ affiliated broadcasts and JTBC broadcasts in real time.

1. Summary of TVing ticket plan prices (as of November 2022)
TVING has a similar fee structure to Netflix. It is divided into basic, standard, and premium levels, and there are differences in picture quality, simultaneous connections, and devices that can be used.
TVING – Pass – Price – Picture Quality – Simultaneous Access – Summary Table
Premium is optimal for 4 people
TVING Premium: 4 profiles, 4 people watching simultaneously, up to 1080P + 4K quality, no device support restrictions, monthly fee 13,900 won
TVing Standard: 2 profiles, 2 people watching simultaneously, up to 1080P quality, no device support restrictions, monthly fee 10,900 won
TVing Basic: 1 profile, 1 person watching simultaneously, up to 720P quality, supports only PC smartphone tablet Chromecast, monthly fee 7,900 won
Basic is the cheapest plan, priced at 7.900 won, but it only supports 720P picture quality and does not support smart TVs, so it is useful for users who watch alone on mobile devices, but is of little significance to other users.
Standard is just fine. If only two people in a family are using it, we recommend it. If more people are using it, the premium plan is definitely recommended. Since my whole family is using it, I signed up for the premium plan for 4 people.
Considering that 4 people split the fee, it is not that expensive, and in fact, there are many ways to recruit “party members” and use them together.
2. Reasons for signing up through PC/mobile when signing up for TVing
app-payment-amount
Higher price than PC with Android/Apple in-and-out payment
One thing to keep in mind when signing up for TVing is that if you pay through the Android or iPhone app, there is a difference in the amount of the ticket you sign up for on PC or mobile. When signing up for TVing on PC or mobile, the rate plan provided above is (Basic KRW 7,900, Standard KRW 10,900, Premium KRW 13,900), but when purchasing from the app, it is applied as an “in-app payment” and payment is made at KRW 9,000 for Basic, KRW 12,500 for Standard, and KRW 16,000 for Premium.
Therefore, when purchasing a TVing pass, you can use TVING at a cheaper price by signing up on PC or mobile rather than through the app. In the case of premium, the difference is 2,100 won per month, and in a year, the amount exceeds 25,000 won, so it is better to save.
3. Tving annual pass price and how to purchase it at a low price
Netflix doesn’t have it, but TVing and other domestic OTT services sell “annual passes.” As the saying goes, this is a one-year pass that you pay for one year in advance. It’s good for the company to attract customers who will use it for a year, and users can use the annual pass at a discounted rate, so it’s a win-win.
TVING-Annual-Pass-Price
Annual passes are cheaper than monthly passes.
An annual pass is a pass that is paid for every year and includes a discount. Basic is 71,000 won, Standard is 98,000 won, and Premium is 125,000 won. If you use the premium for 12 months, it is 166,800 won, but the annual pass is 125,000 won, which is a 41,800 won discount.
In addition, we are holding a discount event for Tving annual passes in the first or second half of the year. The discount amount varies depending on the event device, but in this event, a 41% discount is available at the price of 99,000 won for the premium annual pass, 77,000 won for the standard, and 55,500 won for the basic pass.

Since I also signed up late, the Tving Festa 2022 event can be purchased from October 21 to November 30, 2022. If you are an occasional TV user, there is no reason to purchase it, but if a family of four enjoys watching dramas or entertainment, it may be a good idea to use it for a long time at a discounted price.

TVING-Paramount-Plus
Paramount Plus feels more disappointing than expected
I purchased a premium pass for a family of four and paid 99,000 won for an annual pass through the 2022 Teaving Festa discount event.
I watched the youngest son of a chaebol family in real time, and the movies “Decision to Break Up” and “Alien” were added to the list of things to watch first. Also, like Netflix, TVING produces “original” dramas and movies, so I’m preparing to watch the recently released “Ransom.”
Also, there is Paramount Plus content, so I’m looking to see if there’s anything to watch for Paramount’s American TV shows, but there are a lot of recommendations for “Star Trek” and “1883,” so I’ll try watching those TV shows when I have time.
TVING-Real-Time-Watching
Situations where there is no need to turn on the TV
First of all, I really like it because I can watch JTBC or TVN in real time, and I’m a little looking forward to adding content such as movies, dramas, and entertainment (Ireland).
In fact, unless you split the burden for a family of four, the 99,000 won ticket for a year would have been burdensome, but when I thought about splitting it up, it seemed like a good purchase since it was cheap and the attractions were reasonable.
