1. Use Korean Air ticket
award ticket
This is a way to purchase airline tickets using all your mileage. It requires a lot of points, but as the name suggests, it is a flight ticket that can be obtained as a bonus. The period during which bonus tickets can be purchased is limited depending on the schedule, and the disadvantage is that it may be more limited than when purchasing regular tickets.

Required mileage varies depending on the route. It can be used both domestically and internationally, and if you are traveling to a country that is close by, you can purchase a bonus ticket with lower mileage.

You can also book prestige and first class seats as well as economy class seats. You can use prestige and first class seats, which are difficult to use by purchasing a ticket directly, with relatively low mileage. Thanks to this, many people who use award tickets often choose seats of prestige class or higher.

Since you are purchasing an airline ticket, taxes and fuel surcharges must be paid separately.

Cathy and Miles
This is a method that allows you to purchase airline tickets by using some of your mileage when purchasing airline tickets through the website. It is the same as the method of purchasing using points together when purchasing through Naver. The method of use is the same as purchasing a regular airline ticket, just select the Kay & Miles method as the payment method.

How to use Cash & Miles

How to use Cash & Miles

This is great to use if you don’t have enough miles to purchase award tickets or upgrade seats, but we don’t recommend it if you can use the previous two methods.

Use of additional services
You can also use your mileage for additional services when boarding an airplane. You can request payment with mileage when making payment or use it when making a reservation on the website. Additional services available include excess baggage, pets, lounge, and unaccompanied minor services.

Excess Baggage Bonus
If the weight or number of checked baggage exceeds the fee, you can use mileage to pay the fee instead. It is a one-way basis and the mileage deduction amount varies depending on the region.

The deduction table above is based on one-way departures and arrivals from Korea.
For domestic flights, 200 miles per kg is deducted.

pet
Fees that must be paid when boarding an airplane with a pet can also be paid using mileage. For domestic flights, 3,000 mileage is required, but for regular payments, you have to pay 30,000,000 won. Even if you calculate the mileage value by converting it, it is more effective to make regular payments rather than use mileage (based on the average mileage value of 15 won).

KAL Lounge
You can use your mileage to use lounge benefits operated by Korean Air. Domestic lounges require 2,000 miles, and international lounges require 4,000 miles.

Available routes include Gimpo, Daegu, Busan, and Jeju airports for domestic flights. International flights include Gimpo, Busan, Incheon, Nagoya, Tokyo (Narita), Osaka, Fukuoka, New York, Los Angeles, and Honolulu.

unaccompanied minor
You can pay for non-property pediatric services with mileage, which are services that can be used when unaccompanied by a guardian. Domestic flights are not available, only international flights are available.

For non-property pediatric services, deductible mileage is set differently for each segment rather than for each segment. For children 5 to 11 years old and younger, 15,000 mileage is required, and for children 12 and older to 16 years old, 20,000 mileage is required.

2. Mileage Mall
At Korean Air, you can use your mileage to purchase various goods and in-flight travel items at the KAL Store, as well as hotel reservations, E-Met discount vouchers, airtel and hotel vacation products, and admission tickets to Jeju Folk Village, Aqua Planet Jeju, and KidZania. We operate a mileage mall.

In particular, various goods using the Korean Air brand can be purchased through the mileage mall, so if you like cute items, it would be fun to check out the mileage mall once in a while.

3. Use partner airlines
We have partnerships with airlines around the world. We are building a team and forming partnerships, not all airlines. Korean Air is a SkyTeam airline. Therefore, you can use Korean Air’s mileage to purchase airline tickets and upgrade seats on partner airlines.

Even if you do not fly with Korean Air, you can use mileage to purchase airline tickets for partner airlines located in each region and upgrade your seat.
