To help low-income children secure self-reliance funds necessary for their entry into society, Child Development Account (CDA) support is provided to children in child welfare facilities and children in foster care (introduced in April 2007).
In order to easily approach the public, ´Didim Seed Bankbook´, which was selected through a name contest, has been used as a public brand since 2009.
If a child saves an amount of less than 50,000 won per month with the support of a guardian or sponsor, the government (local government) supports twice the amount saved (1:2 matching fund) until the child is under the age of 18 to support society after the age of 18. When entering the market, use it for tuition, deposit, start-up funds, etc.
Depending on the child’s circumstances, self-saving is possible up to 500,000 won per month.
Starting in 2020, support will be expanded to a monthly government support limit of 50,000 won.
Starting in 2022, the monthly government support amount will be capped at 100,000 won and the matching ratio will be expanded to 1:2.
Children from families receiving basic livelihood security are newly selected every year between the ages of 0 and 17.
Supported from the time of registration to those under 18 years of age
