The National Pension, managed by the National Pension Service, is Korea’s social security system established in 1988 to preserve income at a national level when the elderly are no longer able to work. National pension, also known as old-age pension, can be received from those aged 60 or older1.
Not only office subscribers 2, but also people with freelance jobs such as webtoon writers or authors can receive national pension by signing up as local subscribers and paying insurance premiums. 3
There are times when there is a gap in subscription or as I get older to receive the national pension, I sometimes wonder about the expected amount of national pension I can receive and the amount to be paid. By checking and referring to the national pension insurance premiums you have paid so far, you will be able to manage your retirement funds in a more planned manner.

How to check national pension payment amount
1. Access the official website of the National Pension Service NPS Electronic Civil Service Service and log in with your public certificate. You can also log in with a Kakao or Naver certificate.

2. Click the Personal Service menu.

1. On the National Pension payment amount inquiry screen, click the View expected pension details menu at the bottom.

2. You can check the expected pension amount in the Estimated Old-age Pension Amount (Before Tax) menu.
